(WJW) – Adam Sandler says he can still get his favorite candy bar, even though it’s discontinued.
The 57-year-old actor was attending the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie “Spaceman” on Monday when he was asked what kind of junk food he’d take with him if he were to head into space, similar to his character in the new movie.
“Oh, that’s good. I guess right now a Marathon bar. You ever have one of those? They don’t make them anymore. Maybe they make only a few,” Sandler told reporters, according to PEOPLE.
According to the Daily Meal, Marathon bars were discontinued in 1981 after an eight-year run. The bars were a combination of chocolate and caramel, in a braid formation, and were longer than most candy bars (measuring 8 inches long), the Daily Meal says.
Monday night, reporters joked with Sandler, asking if he had a secret factory making bars for him. He said, “No, I don’t. Maybe I do. I’m Sandler for God’s sake, I can get a Marathon bar, all right.”
The Daily Meal reports a Curly Wurly, made by Cadbury, is a similar bar that is still available at select locations in the U.S.
“Spaceman” is based on the 2017 novel “Spaceman of Bohemia” by Jaroslav Kalfař and will be available to watch on Netflix on March 1. The sci-fi drama stars Sandler alongside Carey Mulligan (“Maestro”) and Paul Dano (“Okja”).
