SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The Golden State Warriors agreed to a contract extension with head coach Steve Kerr, ESPN reported Friday night.
The contract is for two years and $35 million, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said. Kerr is now the highest-paid coach in NBA history.
Kerr has been the Warriors’ head coach since the 2014-15 season. He has coached the team to four NBA championships and was the NBA Coach of the Year in 2015-16.
The move keeps Kerr in the fold after general manager Bob Myers left the team after last season. Mike Dunleavy Jr. took over as the Warriors’ new general manager.
Going into Friday night’s game against the Charlotte Hornets, the Warriors had a 28-26 record. They hold the last spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament.
